October, 2005 Special Funding Cycle Announcement

Grant Objective :  Program Sustainability Which Address Self-Sufficiency and Improving the Quality of Life for Refugees, Immigrants and Non-documented Families and Individuals Regardless of Status.   

The Building Strong Families Foundation has developed a special funding cycle to assist programs/agencies which are working to improve the quality of life and self-sufficiency of refugees and immigrants regardless of their status.  The Foundation will accept grant applications from agencies addressing these issues.  Funds may be used for program sustainability (staffing and program costs).  Agencies may apply for up to $20,000.  Grants will be due by October 1, 2005.

How to apply and grant application

q Agencies are asked to complete the Common Application Form.

q Please address the following in your grant application: 

ü What services does your agency provide for the target population.

ü Address languages other than English that your staff speak.

ü Address what population or group your agency will serve.

ü Provide Clear program goals, objectives, activities and a time for your grant.

ü Provide the names and titles of who will direct and work within the program.    

Grantmaking Criteria:

• We prefer that your organizations communicate with the Building Strong Families Foundation before completing an application form.  This may save your organization time if the grant proposal does not meet the grant criteria. 

• Initial communication may be in person, by phone, mail, facsimile or by e-mail.  We will be happy to consult at any stage of the process.

• All material submitted for the application process becomes the property of the Building Strong Families Foundation. 

• Grant applications should be a maximum of 10 pages.  Short precise applications are preferred.

• Four (4) copies of the grant application must be submitted.  A copy of the grant and project budget must be e-mailed to ddaily@buildingstrongfamiliesfoundation.org. 

• Additional contact and correspondence with the applicant, when needed, will be conducted following preliminary review of the grant proposals.

• Formal evaluation of projects funded through the Building Strong Families Foundation may be required as a condition of the grant.  Formal financial accounting of expenditures and regular narrative reports may also be required.

• All final grant determinations are determined by the foundation funder. 

• All grant contacts must go through the administrators of the foundation.
